Mixing Vocals - Processing Reverb
When you use a reverb for your vocal, do you just set it up and leave it or do you process it further?
If you’re not processing it, you could be missing a trick.
Sure, cleaning up the low and high end with a filter is great - that’s often a feature built into the plugin, which is nice - but I think adding some additional processing is what really makes a difference.
EQing the reverb into the track helps to clean it up some more and gives you some more space in the mix.
Adding some Side-Chain Compression too can really help to push the vocal out of the way until it’s time for the reverb to bloom and shine; again, giving more clarity to the mix.
What else do you do to reverbs? I’d love to hear your techniques.
