"I've worked with James Arter for many years. He is a fantastic engineer and producer and never does things in half-measures. He always manages to pull a huge drum sound out of the smallest spaces and makes everything sound like the finished article. A hard grafter and a gentleman!"
Adam Falkner (Baby Shambles, One EskimO, Amy MacDonald, Dido)
Do you need some professionally recorded drums by a top session drummer on your track? Look no further!
Amazing drums make for amazing productions. Bring your songs to the next level.
Whether you need a professional drummer to replace the original drum track or to create a part played along to your guide tracks, we can do it. The vibe of a song is so important and one of the best ways to achieve this is to get the rhythm section really rockin'.
Adam Falkner is an experienced session drummer who is ready for anything you want to throw at him - any genres welcomed. Find out more about him here.
Just get in touch, let us know what you need, and we will do the rest. We'll record the drums in the studio with high-end mics, top quality preamps, in a great room, and send them back over to you so you can slot them into your song.
What you'll get:
- Individually miked, professionally recorded drums tracks (usually around 10-12 tracks)
- Fully edited, ready to drop straight into your song
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Depends on how many songs you need. If you need a few tracks (3-4 for example) then we can get it done pretty quickly. If it's just the one then we might need to slot it into another drum session so might take a couple of weeks - just get in touch as things are changing all the time!
I NEED IT REALLY QUICKLY, WILL YOU DO A RUSH JOB?
Sure, it'll just cost a little more to do so, but it can be arranged. Get in touch and let us know what you need and when you need it by.
SO YOU'LL DO ALL THE EDITS?
HOW MANY DIFFERENT TAKES WILL I GET?
Yes, absolutely. The idea is that the drums will be beautifully played and tightened up - where needed - so you can drop them straight into your song.
Unless you specify otherwise, you'll get one main take edited and ready to go.
If you require multiple takes - perhaps to edit them yourself and have a few more options to play with - then let me know and I could provide this at an extra cost. I usually record in Logic Pro so, if that's your platform too, then I can send you the Logic session for a very small cost. If, however, you would prefer them all bounced out as separate takes to drop into another DAW (like Pro Tools, Cubase, or Ableton, for example) then it'll take more time to process the tracks so will cost a little more.
WILL THE DRUMS BE MIXED TOO?
No, they won't be mixed, they will be dry files (no EQ or compression etc), however, I tend to EQ them slightly before that hit the recorder so will definitely sound good to start off with.
The mixing side of things will be very different depending on your track and what you want so I think it's best to keep them as a blank canvas; I would mix drums for a folk song totally different to a metal song, for example!
If you do want them mixed, however, please let me know.
I NEED YOU TO REPLACE MY PROGRAMMED DRUMS WITH REAL DRUMS, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
That will be the easiest and fastest thing to do. Ideally, I'd need you to send over the following:
- A consolidated bounce of JUST DRUMS
- A consolidated bounce of JUST VOCALS
- A consolidated bounce of INSTRUMENTAL (excluding drums and vocals)
- The tempo of the song (and a MIDI file, if there are tempo changes)
- Any notes of direction
I NEED YOU TO WRITE THE DRUM PART TOO, HOW DO WE GO ABOUT THIS?
Get in touch and we can talk about what you require. If you have a rough idea of the part and just need the drummer to interpret it and create a drum track then it's fairly straight-forward.
If it's a bit of a blank canvas - just guide tracks for example - then that's doable too, it'll just take a little more work to get exactly what you need. If necessary, you can tell me what you want, I can program out a fairly solid drum track, send that back to you and then if you're happy with what the drums are doing, we can get some real drums recorded.
Best thing to do is to get in touch so we can talk about what you need.
